My hero

When Trav and Amanda got married, they went salmon fishing and Trav caught a pretty decent size fish. He put a picture of it on a t-shirt along with the caption "my nephew, my hero" and gave it to me with much fanfare.
Although I never acknowledged trav as my hero, if I had, today he would have been unceremoniously yanked off his pedestal and thrown to the ground, stomped on and left to die.
Today my mother and father drove thru a fierce wind that was blowing snow across the highway making it very tough to see your own lane, much less the rest of the highway and brought me and my sister Susan each chicken noodle soup. Susan has a bad cold and the soup will definitely help her. Turns out I have fractured ribs and that is why I have been so sore for the last while. I am not sure if the mom made soup will help that, but the love that came with it will go a long way to healing me. I had it for supper and I already feel better.
Do you want your shirt back Trav?

I couldn't believe it!! We have the most awesome parents. I hope I don't give them my cold in return. I had to drive them to the city for a Dr.s appointment the other day, and I was feeling really crappy then.

Fractured ribs? Oh my goodness.I'm glad you finally found out what is wrong. How long until you are better and go back to work?

Are you joking me? Fractured ribs?

What a relief! Now you will probably be feeling better sometime soon! Now you know what is wrong, and that's great! Right?

The only thing I am wondering is how you managed to fracture your ribs.

That's so nice I could just cry. My mom got sick and coughed so hard she did the same thing, she said it was terribly painful. I can't believe they delivered soup.
I have this mental picture of auntie Susan and uncle John sitting on his new couch together, in their bathrobes watching daytime television and eating soup together.

THat sounds like a lovely picture, Mel. I would have loved to have eaten my soup with John on his new couch. I was banned from his house!! (My idea actually) He readily agreed. I have a horrible cough.

Wow, fractured ribs, that sounds rather painful. I am glad the soup made you feel better. We sure have some awesome parents. I wonder if I phone them if they will come deliver soup for Art, he sure isn't feeling well.

Hey! I have a bad cough, too. *whining nazal voice*
I actually broke my ribs coughing a few years ago. The bad thing is that even though your ribs hurt like blazes just breathing, you still have to cough. What torture. I hope your ribs heal quickly, John.
Mom and Dad are totally amazing.

Sorry to hear about your ribs. That sucks. Know how you feel.
I think I might put up with the pain though just to have mom and dad bring me soup. We are all very blessed but you and Sue especially. (and all of you out there who can go and see them anytime you want).

i'm not even a little bit concerned if grandma and grampa outrank me on your list of heros... heck... i'd be worried if they didn't... just as long as we know where we stand when it comes to fishing :P

I think he'd post expect for the fact he can't sit in the computer chair. Someone will need to bring him a laptop and hook-up a wireless connection so he can write a post while laying flat on his back on the couch.

Oh so that's the excuse he's using to not post? Good one John.
